Liftgate Actuator Switch Replacement for Saturn Astra 2009

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 1942039 Size: LH

    Note: The center fastening bolts are installed from outside with additional locking compound.

  2. Remove the liftgate trim panel.
    3. • Disconnect the wiring harness plug (2).
    • Remove the 6 nuts (1).

  3. Remove the actuator switch from the liftgate panel.
    4. • Remove the 2 bolts from the guide (arrow).
    • Disconnect the wiring harness plug (2).
    • Disconnect the wiring harness.
    • Remove the 2 retaining lugs (1).
    • Remove the switch.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the switch in the liftgate panel.
    2. • Install in the switch.
    • Connect the wiring harness.
    • Connect the wiring harness plug.
    • Install the 2 bolts into the guide.

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the liftgate applique panel.

    3. Connect the wiring harness plug.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 6 nuts to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  3. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement.

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the liftgate.

    2. Object Number: 1937091 Size: SH
  2. Remove the lock trim panel.
    3. • Disconnect the clip.
    • Remove the bolt.

    Object Number: 1937100 Size: LF
  3. Remove the luggage shade brackets (3) - left side.
  4. Remove the upper liftgate garnish molding (2) - left side.

    5. Release the 4 clips.

  5. Remove the luggage shade brackets (3) - right side.
  6. Remove the upper liftgate garnish molding (2) - right side.

    7. Release the 4 clips.

  7. Remove the liftgate inner lower trim panel.

    8. Release the 8 clips.

  8. Remove the liftgate applique.
    9. • Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
    • Remove the 6 nuts (1).
    • Remove the liftgate applique (arrows).

    Object Number: 1936110 Size: SH
  9. Remove the center plug from the liftgate applique.
    10. • Remove the plug.
    • Remove the plug with the wiring harness from the guide (arrow).

    Object Number: 1942304 Size: SH
  10. Remove the liftgate actuator switch.
    11. • Remove the 2 guides (arrow).
    • Remove the switch with the full wiring harness.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the liftgate lock actuator switch.
    2. • Lock the 2 guides.
    • Install the switch with the full wiring harness.
    • Position the wiring harness.
  2. Install the center plug in the liftgate panel mounting.

    3. Secure the plug.

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the liftgate applique.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the 6 nuts to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  4. Connect the wiring harness plug.
  5. Install the liftgate lower trim panel.

    6. Install the 8 clips.

  6. Install the lock trim panel.

    7. Install the clip.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  7. Install the upper interior paneling - right side.

    8. Install the 4 clips.

  8. Install the luggage shade bracket - right side.
  9. Install the upper liftgate garnish molding - left side.

    10. Install the 4 clips.

  10. Install the luggage shade bracket - left side.
  11. Close the liftgate.
