Drive Plate (Flexplate) Deflection

Inspect the drive/flexplate assembly in order to verify that the deflection/lateral runout is within specification as listed. If lateral runout is greater than the maximum allowed specification, replace the drive/flexplate assembly. Lateral runout of the drive/flexplate assembly must be less than 0.2 mm (0.008 in).

Caution: When installing the TCC to the drive/flexplate, make sure to use specified TCC mount bolts. DO NOT use longer bolts. Using longer bolts will result in deformation of the TCC cover and damage to the TCC lock up clutch lining. TCC lock up malfunction will eventually occur, resulting in a need to replace the TCC assembly.

Note: If abnormal wear or witness marks are present on the torque converter clutch (TCC) sleeve, or on the fluid pump assembly, replace the TCC and the automatic transmission fluid pump assembly.
