Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1941391 Size: LF

    Warning:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Remove the hood strut from the hood.

    2. Release the retaining clip (1).

  2. Remove the hood.
    3. 2.1. Remove the hood strut.
    2.2. Remove the 4 bolts (1).

Installation Procedure

    Note: Observe protective wax corrosion protection measures.

  1. When replacing the hood, seal the cavity.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Liftgate Assist Rod Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the hood and tighten the 4 hood hinge bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    3. Install the hood strut.

  3. Install the hood strut to the hood.

    4. Install the retaining clip.

    Note: 

       • Use the hood closure (1) and the rubber buffer (2) to adjust the hood.
       • Ensure the gaps run parallel.

  4. Adjust the hood to the adjacent panels.
    5. 4.1. Screw the rubber buffer in until the hood edge is 2 mm (0.07 in) below the top edge of the fender.
    4.2. Install and adjust the hood closure bolt.
    4.3. Unscrew the rubber buffer by 180 degrees to set the preliminary tension of the hood lock.
    4.4. If the hood is aligned, after the adjustment 1 mm (0.03 in) must be under the upper edge of the wing.
