Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1948086  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  2. Measure the exposed thread length from the lock nut to thread end of the tie rod.
  3. Release the lock nut (1).
  4. Counterhold with open-ended wrench on the tie rod end.

  5. Release the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  6. Remove the tie rod end nut.

  7. Object Number: 1948097  Size: SH
  8. Press the tie rod end out of the steering knuckle using SA9211T-2 /KM-161-B and KM-161-2 (1).
  9. Remove the tie rod end from the tie rod.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Note: First inspect exposed thread length.

  1. Install the tie rod end to the tie rod.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  3. Lock the tie rod end with the lock nut.
  4. Counterhold with an open-ended wrench on the tie rod end.

  5. Install the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) plus 90 degrees, plus 15 degrees.

  7. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  8. Inspect the toe-in, adjust if necessary. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.
