Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Programming and Setup
Important: Before the old instrument panel cluster (IPC) is removed, use the scan tool to record the values from the following sections:
• | "Program Low Speed CAN-Bus Config" |
• | "Program Variant Configuration" |
Perform the 'Reset ECU' function. A "Security Code" is required during the IPC programming event and can be obtained from GM Dealer World or Parts Locator. The vehicle VIN is needed to obtain the correct "Security Code"
for the vehicle.
After installation the new IPC displays 'Pr09' in the odometer display. This indicates the IPC needs programing. After installation, setup the vehicle for pass-thru programming. Ensure the scan tool is on the start-up screen and then perform the following:
• | Using TIS 2 Web select the "Security" tab |
• | Select "Start Download" button |
• | Select "Next" from the pop-up window |
This process authorizes the scan tool to setup the IPC. If not done correctly and the new IPC programming is attempted, the scan tool displays "Please get programming approval from TIS".
With the new IPC, select "Program ECU" from the 'Programming' menu on the scan tool. Once programming is complete the 'Pr09' message is cleared from the odometer display and the odometer displays zero.
Odometer
With the vehicle still in pass thru programming mode, use SPS to perform the following:
• | Select "IPC Setup" to program the odometer |
• | Select OK at the prompt 'Please install the new controller and select [OK] to proceed or select [CANCEL] to exit'. |
• | Enter the correct odometer value and select the desired units (Miles or Kilometers). |
After programming is complete, verify the IPC displays the correct odometer value.
