Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors and supplies a 12 volt reference to the yaw sensor with vehicle lateral and longitudinal accelerometer.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC C0292 1A

    • The EBCM detects the sensor voltage is above 18 volts
    • The EBCM detects the sensor voltage is below 6 volts

DTC C0292 39

Internal failure of the yaw sensor with vehicle lateral and longitudinal accelerometer.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM disables vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) and sends a serial data message to the DIC.
    • The VSES indicator illuminates.
    • The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the warning indicator/message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

DTC C0292 39

Ignition On, verify that DTC  C0292 39 is not set.

If the DTC is set, replace the yaw sensor with vehicle lateral and longitudinal accelerometer.

DTC C0292 1A

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the yaw sensor with vehicle lateral and longitudinal accelerometer.
  2. Ignition OFF,test for less than 5 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 5 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test for an open/high resistance in the low reference circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  4. Ignition ON, test for B+ between the ignition circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  5. If less than the specified range, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  6. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the EBCM.
  7. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the CAN bus low circuit terminal 1 and ground at the yaw rate/lateral accelerometer sensor connector.
  8. If greater than the specified range, test the CAN bus low circuit for a short to voltage.
  9. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the CAN bus low circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  10. If less than the specified value, test the CAN bus low circuit for a short to ground.
  11. Ignition ON, test for less than 1 volt between the CAN bus high circuit terminal 2 and ground at the yaw rate/lateral accelerometer sensor connector.
  12. If greater than the specified range, test the CAN bus high circuit for a short to voltage.
  13. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the CAN bus high circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  14. If less than the specified value, test the CAN bus high circuit for a short to ground.
  15. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the CAN bus high circuit terminal 2 and the CAN bus low circuit terminal 1at the yaw rate/lateral accelerometer sensor connector.
  16. If less than the specified value, test the CAN bus circuits for a short to each other.
  17. If all circuits test normal, replace the yaw sensor with vehicle lateral and longitudinal accelerometer.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
