Pressing the liftgate release switch closes a contact providing a ground for the liftgate release switch signal circuit. The rear fuse block will detect the voltage drop and command voltage to be supplied to the liftgate latch assembly which releases the liftgate.
The system voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
The rear fuse block detects a short to ground in the liftgate latch assembly control circuit or an open F38 fuse.
The power door locks and liftgate release will be inoperative.
• | The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present. |
• | When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will become a history DTC. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles. |
These DTCs will set if the F38 fuse is open.

Command the liftgate latch to release by pressing the liftgate release switch. The liftgate latch should release the liftgate.
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear fuse block. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the rear fuse block. |
⇒ | If the latch does not perform as specified, replace the liftgate latch. |
