Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment.
• | Open the I/P compartment cover. |
• | Remove the 4 bolts (1). |
• | Disconnect the wiring harness plug. |
• | Remove the I/P compartment. |
- Remove the sill inner paneling.
• | Remove the sill inner paneling (1). |
- Loosen the I/P padding.
• | Release the I/P padding cover, side. |
• | Remove the footwell screw (2). |
- Remove the airbag unit.
• | Release and disconnect wiring harness plug. |
Note: Always set aside airbag module with padded side upwards.
- Remove the airbag module.
• | Lift the I/P padding on the right side. |
• | Remove the airbag module from the guide. |
Installation Procedure
- Install the airbag module.
• | Lift the I/P padding on the right side. |
• | Insert the airbag module in guide. |
• | Connect and latch the wiring harness plug. |
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Fasten the airbag module.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Fasten the I/P padding.
Tighten
Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Install the I/P padding cover, side.
- Install the sill inner paneling.
Install the 5 clips.
- Install the I/P compartment.
• | Connect the wiring harness plug. |
• | Insert the I/P compartment. |
Tighten
Tighten the 4 bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
• | Close the I/P compartment cover. |
- Connect the battery.
- Perform the readiness inspection.
