Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.

  3. Object Number: 1937619  Size: LF

    Note: Ensure that the retaining wire is not bent.

  4. Remove the drivers side airbag.
  5. • Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees (I).
    • Push the retaining wire in the direction of the steering column using a small screwdriver in the service opening (II) and remove the airbag module.
    • Release and disconnect the wiring harness plug.

  6. Disconnect the wiring harness plug (1) for the horn.
  7. Note: Ensure that the wheels are in a straight ahead position.

  8. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
  9. • Remove the bolt (2).
    • Pull the steering wheel from the steering shaft.

  10. Remove the turn signal switch paneling.
  11. • Remove the 2 panels.
    • Remove the 2 bolts (arrows).
    • Raise the upper paneling (1).
    • Remove the 3 bolts (arrows).
    • Remove the lower paneling (2).

  12. Remove the steering wheel coil module.
  13. • Remove the 3 bolts (arrows).
    • Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
    • Disconnect and remove the wiring harness clamp.
    • Remove the steering wheel coil module.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the steering wheel coil module.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    • Connect the wiring harness plug.
    • Insert the steering wheel coil module.
    • Install the wiring harness clamp.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 3 bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  3. Install the turn signal switch paneling.
  4. • Insert the lower paneling.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 3 bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    • Insert the upper paneling.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    • Install the 2 panels.

    Note: 

       • Ensure that the marks on the steering wheel and the steering shaft align.
       • Clean the thread and fit the new bolt with the locking compound.

  5. Install the steering wheel to the steering shaft.
  6. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Connect the wiring harness plug for the signal horn/Infotainment.
  8. Install the driver side airbag.
  9. • Connect and latch the wiring harness plug.
    • Install the 2 clips.
  10. Perform the readiness inspection.
  11. Connect the battery.
