Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Warning in the Preface section.

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

    Warning: Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary:

       • The seat cushion frame
       • The seat recliner, if equipped
       • The seat adjuster
       • The seat back frame
    Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.

  3. Object Number: 1941206  Size: LH
  4. Remove the front seat belt trim panel (1).
  5. Remove the seat belt from the front seat.
  6. Remove the bolt (2).

  7. Position the seat in the most forward position.

  8. Object Number: 1941313  Size: LH
  9. Remove the rear driver seat.
  10. Remove the 2 bolts (1).

    Note: Disconnect the wiring harness plug.

  11. Remove the front seat.
  12. Remove from the front guide.


    Object Number: 1937639  Size: LF
  13. Partially remove the front seat backrest paneling.
  14. • Remove the paneling all round (I).
    • Release the 2 clamps (II).
  15. Remove the side airbag.
  16. Remove the 3 bolts (1).

  17. Remove the side airbag.
  18. Release and disconnect the wiring harness plug.

Installation Procedure

    Note: Ensure the correct wiring harness routing.

  1. Install the side airbag.
  2. Connect and latch the wiring harness plug.

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Fasten the side airbag.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the 3 bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Fasten the front seat backrest paneling.
  6. • Install the 2 clamps.
    • Fasten the paneling all round.

    Note: Connect the wiring harness plug.

  7. Install the front seat.
  8. Insert into the front guide.

  9. Install the rear front seat.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten 2 bolts 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  11. Reposition the seat to its original position.
  12. Install the seat belt at the front seat.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt 20 N·m (15 lb in).

  14. Install the seat belt trim panel.
  15. Connect the battery.
