Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: A deployed dual stage inflator module will look the same whether one or both stages were used. Always assume a deployed dual stage inflator module has an active stage 2. Improper handling or servicing can activate the inflator module and cause personal injury.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the right instrument panel (I/P) trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  3. Object Number: 877826  Size: SH
  4. Remove the I/P inflatable restraint wire rosebud from the I/P retainer bracket.

  5. Object Number: 877723  Size: SH
  6. Remove the I/P inflatable restraint module bolts.

  7. Object Number: 877725  Size: SH
  8. Pull the I/P inflatable restraint module out of the I/P retainer while depressing one of the retaining tabs on the I/P retainer with a flat-bladed tool.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 877723  Size: SH
  1. Install the I/P inflatable restraint module into the I/P retainer.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the I/P inflatable restraint module bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the I/P inflatable restraint module bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  5. Install the I/P inflatable restraint module wire rosebud to the I/P retainer bracket.
  6. Install the right I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  8. After replacing the module, deploy the old module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping for proper disposal.
