For 1990-2009 cars only
- Remove two detent spring bolts (1).
- Remove detent spring assembly (2).
- Remove fifteen control valve assembly bolts (1).
- Install a lint-free cloth (1) in the park pawl apply assembly guide hole in main housing (2).
- Lift control valve assembly (2) until two dowel pins of the control valve assembly are disengaged from the main housing.
- Slide the control valve assembly to the side and disengage selector valve pin (3) from detent lever (1).
- Remove the control valve assembly from the main housing.
- Remove as a unit, manual selector valve (2) and selector valve pin (3) from shift valve body (1)
- Remove selector valve pin (3) from manual selector valve (2).
- Remove lint free cloth (1) from park pawl apply assembly guide hole in main housing (2).
Important: Installing a lint-free cloth into the park pawl apply assembly guide hole prevents the selector valve pin from falling into the transmission.
Notice: Do not drop the manual valve when removing or installing the control valve assembly onto or from the transmission case.
Important: Placing a finger on the end of the manual selector valve pin, protruding from the cockscomb slot, when removing the control valve module from the main housing prevents the manual selector valve from falling free of its bore.
