Purpose
The front differential carrier assembly has two different thrust washer designs: a 1-piece design and a 4-piece design. The 4-piece design is more durable and replaces the 1-piece design. If the front differential carrier assembly is serviced and the 1-piece thrust washer must be replaced, the 4-piece design is the only available service replacement.
The Front Differential Carrier Disassemble and Assemble procedures in the 2002-2003 Saturn VUE and 2003 Saturn ION Transaxle Service Manuals contain illustrations depicting only the 1-piece design. Please obtain these Service Manuals and update the Front Differential Carrier Disassemble and Assemble procedures with the information in this bulletin.
