Rear Fascia Paint Scuffed Below Rear Compartment Lid Applique (Install Rear Compartment Lid Outer Bumpers and Repair Rear Fascia Paint)

Some customers may comment on a paint scuff line on the top of the rear fascia located just below where the rear compartment lid applique' rests in the closed position. The scuff line will only be noticeable when the rear compartment lid is in the open position.

The condition is caused by the rear compartment lid outer bumpers being too short, allowing the rear compartment lid applique' to make some slight contact with the rear fascia when closing.

Replace the rear compartment lid outer bumpers with new bumpers, P/N 21096420, which are slightly longer. Repair the rear fascia paint by rubbing out the scuff line mark or, if necessary, performing a spot paint repair in the extreme cases where rubbing and buffing removed too much topcoat and/or basecoat paint.

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Dealer System for B5405 (Bumpers, Rear Compartment - Replace). If buffing is required to remove scuffmarks, claim A3239 (Bumper, Rear Spot - Repair) or A0110 (Finesse Sand and Buff).
