Gap is Present Between the Front Fascia and Headlamp Assembly - keywords bumper contract couple cover expand front deformed distortion gap headlight housing module

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

During times of high ambient temperatures and maximum thermal growth, the ION coupe front fascia expands out from underneath the headlamp assembly. In some cases, the fascia will expand to the point that a gap is present between the fascia and the headlamp assembly. When the fascia cools and contracts, the edge of the fascia may catch the front edge of the headlamp assembly causing an appearance issue.

Replace fascia with P/N 15212618

The fascia material did not extend far enough under the headlamp assembly to prevent the fascia from "pulling out" from under the headlamp assembly during thermal growth.

Material was added to extend the fascia further under the headlamp assembly. A hook was added to the fascia, attaching to the fender to assist in keeping the fascia in place.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
