Notice: Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using battery booster cables or when charging the vehicles battery.

  1. Use the retaining tab to secure the TCM when installing the TCM to the underhood junction block bracket.
  2. Install the TCM harness connectors to the TCM, as noted during removal.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  4. Program the TCM. Refer to Transmission Control Module Reprogramming .
  5. Important: It is recommended that the transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset.

Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn the TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  6. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Learn .
