Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.
- Disable the SIR. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
and to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
in SIR.
- Pull to remove the rear carpet retainer.
- Pull to disengage the rearward clips from the front carpet retainer.
- Remove the anchor bolt from the front seat
belt retractor.
- Remove the height adjuster knob for the
seat belt webbings. Refer to
Seat Belt Height Adjuster Knob Replacement - Front
in Seat Belts.
- Remove the bolt from the adjustable guide loop.
- Pull to disengage the garnish molding trim clips.
- Slide the top of the lower pillar trim out from beneath the upper pillar
trim.
- Remove
the small trim panel door in the center pillar garnish molding.
- Feed the seat belt webbing, the anchor bolt, and the D-ring bolt through
the center pillar garnish molding.
- Remove the garnish molding from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Feed
the seat belt webbing, the anchor bolt, and the D-ring bolt through the opening in
the garnish molding.
- Position the top of the lower center pillar molding beneath the upper
pillar molding.
- Push on the trim clips until the clips engage.
- Install the door seal over the edge of the garnish molding.
- Install the small trim panel behind the seat belt webbing.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the adjustable guide loop webbing bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the height adjuster knob for the seat belt webbings. Refer to
Seat Belt Height Adjuster Knob Replacement - Front
in Seat Belts.
- Install the anchor bolt to
the front seat belt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the rear carpet retainer by pressing until the trim clips engage.
- Install the rearward clips of the front carpet retainer over the edge
of the center pillar garnish molding.
- Enable the SIR. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
