Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 868001  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disconnect the positive battery cable (1).

  3. Object Number: 1066340  Size: SH
  4. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer (1).
  5. Disconnect the battery vent assembly.
  6. Remove the battery brace bolt and brace (2).
  7. Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

  8. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery installation.

  1. Install the battery to the battery tray.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the battery brace (2) and the brace bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the battery brace bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the battery hold down retainer (1) and bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the battery hold down retainer bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Connect the battery vent assembly.

  8. Object Number: 868001  Size: SH
  9. Connect the positive battery cable bolt (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the battery positive cable terminal bolt to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  11. Connect the negative battery cable bolt (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
