Makes 🢒 Saturn 🢒 2006 🢒 ION 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.4L 🢒 Camshaft Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 851306 Size: SH
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
  2. Reposition the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose clamp.
  3. Remove the PCV hose from the cover.

    4. Object Number: 1647538 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the intake (3) and exhaust (2) camshaft position actuator solenoid valve electrical connectors.

    5. Object Number: 1647539 Size: SH
  5. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .
  6. Remove the engine harness clips (1) from the cover.

    7. Object Number: 1647977 Size: SH
  7. Remove the fuel feed line retainers ( 1, 2) from the engine brackets.

    8. Object Number: 1578306 Size: SH
  8. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  9. Remove the camshaft cover.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1578306 Size: SH
  1. Install the camshaft cover and bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1647539 Size: SH
  2. Install the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .
  3. Install the engine harness clips (1 ) to the cover.

    4. Object Number: 1647977 Size: SH
  4. Install the fuel feed line retainers ( 1, 2) to the engine brackets.

    5. Object Number: 1647538 Size: SH
  5. Connect the intake (2) and exhaust (2) camshaft position actuator solenoid valve electrical connectors.

    6. Object Number: 851306 Size: SH
  6. Install the PCV hose to the cover.
  7. Position the PCV hose clamp.
  8. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
