Removal Procedure

    Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Place a suitable support between the hood and the air inlet grille panel.
  3. Using a grease pencil, mark the position of the hood hinge.
  4. Remove the hinge bolts and the hinge.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the hood hinge to the alignment marks on the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hood hinge to body bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the hood hinge to body bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Remove the hood to air inlet grille panel support.
  6. Slowly lower the hood.
  7. Inspect the hood alignment. Align the hood if necessary. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  8. Tighten the hinge to hood bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the hinge to hood bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Close the hood.
