Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement w/RPO L61
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum check valve (2)
from the brake booster.
- If the vacuum check valve (2) needs to be separated from the vacuum
hose (3), release and reposition the clamp (4) on the vacuum hose (3)
and remove the check valve (2) from the hose (3).
- If replacing the vacuum check valve (2), remove the grommet (1)
from the brake booster and discard the grommet.
- If vacuum hose removal is necessary, and
if the vehicle is equipped w/RPO M75, release the vacuum hose from the retaining clip (1).
- If removing the vacuum hose, release the vacuum hose connector retainer,
then disconnect the connector from the vacuum port on the engine intake manifold.
Take note of the vacuum hose routing, then remove the vacuum hose from
the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: A small amount of denatured alcohol can be
used as an assembly aid when installing the vacuum check valve and/or grommet. Do
NOT use soap.
- If the vacuum hose was removed, install
the vacuum hose into position on the vehicle, as noted prior to removal.
- If the vacuum hose was removed, connect the vacuum hose connector to the
vacuum port on the intake manifold. Press the connector retainer down firmly to secure
the connector to the port.
- If the vacuum hose was removed, and if the vehicle is equipped w/RPO
M75, secure the vacuum hose to the retaining clip (1).
- If the vacuum check valve (2) is being replaced,
install a NEW grommet (1) to the brake booster.
- If the vacuum check valve (2) was separated from the vacuum hose (3),
install the check valve (2) to the vacuum hose (3). Install and secure
the clamp (4) into position on the hose (3).
- Connect the brake booster vacuum check valve (2) to the brake booster.

Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum check
valve (2) from the brake booster.
- If the vacuum check valve (2) needs to be separated from the vacuum
hose (3), release and reposition the clamp (4) on the vacuum hose (3)
and remove the check valve (2) from the hose (3).
- If replacing the vacuum check valve (2), remove the grommet (1)
from the brake booster and discard the grommet.
- If vacuum hose removal is necessary, release the vacuum
hose (2) connector retainer, then disconnect the connector from the vacuum
port (1) on the engine intake manifold.
Take note of the vacuum
hose routing, then remove the vacuum hose from the vehicle.

- If the vacuum check valve (2) is
being replaced, install a NEW grommet (1) to the brake booster.
- If the vacuum check valve (2) was separated from the vacuum hose (3),
install the check valve (2) to the vacuum hose (3). Install and secure
the clamp (4) into position on the hose (3).
- Connect the brake booster vacuum check valve (2) to the brake booster.
