The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
After installing a radio into a 2006MY Saturn Vue or ION, the radio will need to be configured to the vehicle, using data CD 9 or greater. If the configuration is not performed the radio will play, however the volume may be lower because the radio comes initially set as having an amplifier. The configuration sets up the radio equalization for the vehicle, the correct amplifier setting, along with programming the VIN into the radio. Necessary if the vehicle has XM.
After radio is replaced using SSS (Saturn Service Stall system) along with the Tech 2 and CANdi module as a pass through to configure the radio, recalibrate radio using service stall procedure Document ID #1702907. Recalibrate radio using data CD 9 greater. The only selection necessary to make is whether the vehicle has an amplifier or not.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
