    • J 39032 Stationary Glass Removal Tool
    • Urethane Adhesive Kit GM P/N 12346392 or Equivalent
    • Isopropyl Alcohol or Equivalent
    • Cartridge-type Caulking Gun
    • Commercial-type Utility Knife
    • Razor Blade Scraper
    • Suction Cups
    • Plastic Paddle

Removal Procedure

    Caution: If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.

    Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and inner trim.

  1. Remove the rear roof rail appliques. Refer to Roof Weld Joint Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear .
  2. Remove the rear upper garnish moldings. Refer to Lock Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 401856  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the rear window defogger electrical connectors.

  5. Object Number: 181953  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the rear window radio antenna connector.
  7. Open the rear compartment lid in order to access the reveal molding.
  8. Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.

  9. Cut the urethane adhesive along the sides of the rear window:
  10. • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
    • From the outside of the car, use J 39032 to cut the urethane along the sides of the window.
  11. From the inside of the car, cut the urethane bead along the top and the bottom of the rear window.

  12. Object Number: 412291  Size: SH
  13. With the aid of an assistant, lift the rear window from the opening.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear window into the opening. Refer to Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows .

  2. Object Number: 401856  Size: SH
  3. Connect the rear window defogger electrical connectors.

  4. Object Number: 181953  Size: SH
  5. Install the rear window radio antenna connector.
  6. Verify the radio has reception.
  7. Install the rear upper garnish moldings. Refer to Lock Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  8. Install the rear roof rail appliques. Refer to Roof Weld Joint Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear .
  9. Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
