Makes 🢒 Saturn 🢒 2007 🢒 ION 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Automatic Transaxle - 4T45-E 🢒 Control Valve Body Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 736049 Size: SH
  3. Remove the underhood electrical center from the bracket.
  4. Remove the underhood electrical center bracket.

    5. Object Number: 494775 Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the shift cable from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch.
  6. Remove the shift cable bracket.

    7. Object Number: 893829 Size: SH
  7. Remove the PNP switch lever nut and lever.

    8. Object Number: 893832 Size: SH
  8. Remove the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .
  9. Remove the transmission upper side cover bolts.
  10. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture for the 2.2L engine or Engine Support Fixture for the 2.4L engine.
  11. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  12. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  13. Remove the left inner fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
  14. Remove the wheel drive shaft from the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  15. Remove the power steering gear mounting bolts. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  16. Remove the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement .

  17. Remove the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Front Mount Replacement and Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
  18. Lower the vehicle.
  19. Lower the engine with the engine support fixture.
  20. Raise the vehicle.
  21. Remove the transmission side cover lower bolts.
  22. Remove the transmission side cover.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 510427 Size: SH
  1. Install the transmission side cover.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Hand start the transmission side cover lower bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the side cover bolts and stud to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Raise the engine with the engine support fixture.
  5. Raise the vehicle.
  6. Install the transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Front Mount Replacement and Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
  7. Install the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement .
  8. Install the power steering gear mounting bolts. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  9. Install the wheel drive shaft to the transmission. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  10. Connect the left ball joint to the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement .
  11. Install the left inner fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
  12. Install the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture for the 2.2L engine or Engine Support Fixture for the 2.4L engine.

    15. Object Number: 893832 Size: SH
  15. Install the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement .

    16. Object Number: 893829 Size: SH
  16. Install the PNP switch lever and nut.

    17. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  17. Install the shift cable bracket.
  18. Connect the shift cable from the PNP switch.

    19. Object Number: 736049 Size: SH
  19. Install the underhood electrical center bracket.
  20. Install the underhood electrical center to the bracket.
  21. Install the air cleaner housing assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  22. Install the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  23. Fill the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check and Fluid Capacity Specifications .
