Power Windows and/or Sunroof Inoperative

Some customers may comment of inoperative power windows and/or sunroof or of repeated opening of the 30A WINDOW/SUNROOF maxifuse located in the under hood fuse block (UHFB).

The 30A WINDOWS/SUNROOF maxifuse is not capable of handling the stall current produced by all four power window motors at once. The 30A maxifuse is not capable of handling the stall current produced by all four power windows motors at once. The 30A maxifuse will open only when all four power window switches are operated at the same time (in the up or down direction) with the engine running.

Replace 30A maxifuse with 30A circuit breaker (P/N 12077843). Remove the 30A Window/Sunroof maxifuse in UHFB and replaces with 30A circuit breaker.

Make sure to explain to the vehicle owner that activation of all four power window switches at the same time may cause the thermal circuit breaker to open. Also, advise the customer that once the thermal circuit breaker cools for a few minutes, it will reset and normal power window operation will resume.
