The purpose of this bulletin is to provide updated diagnostic information on the oil life reset switch circuit that was omitted from all 2000 L- Series L61 Engine Service Manuals and all 2000 L- Series L81 Engine Service Manuals.

L61 Engine Service Manual:

The "CHANGE ENGINE OIL"tell tale is reset by pressing the oil life reset push-button switch. This switch is located in the underhood fuse block (UHFB). Pressing this switch grounds circuit 1579. When grounded, the body control module (BCM) requests the engine controller to perform an oil reset. When oil life reset is completed, the BCM will turn Off the "CHANGE ENGINE OIL"

• | Vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h (6 mph) |
• | Oil life rest switch input is low |
• | Inspect wiring harness for damage. Check for broken or chafed insulation. |
• | If fault is suspected to be intermittent, wiggling harness wiring may help in locating fault. |
