RKE Transmitter is Inoperative or Intermittently Inoperative

Subject:Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter is Inoperative or Intermittently Inoperative -- Diagnose and Repair as Necessary Using the Diagnostic Information Contained in This Bulletin

Models:2000 Saturn L-Series vehicles equipped with RKE (RPO AU0) and L81 (V-6) engines built before VIN YY664721 -- 2000 Saturn L-Series vehicles equipped with RKE (RPO AU0) and L61 (4-Cylinder) engines built before VIN YY665426



Condition:

Some customers may comment that the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter is inoperative or intermittently inoperative.

Cause:

Flux residue from the circuit board soldering process may interrupt the electrical connection between the transmitter circuit board and the negative side of the transmitter battery.

Correction:

Refer to the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System Check diagnostic chart within this bulletin for further diagnostic information.
