Purpose
The purpose of this bulletin is to update the "Transaxle Assembly" procedure in the Removal and Installation section of all of the 2000 L-Series Manual Transaxle Service Manuals at your location.
Obtain all of the 2000 L-Series Manual Transaxle Service Manuals at your location and update as follows:
| • | On page 139, cross out the Notice statement above step 34, cross out step 34, and cross out the illustration next to step 34. |
| • | Write in the follwing after step 34: |
| (Refer to Bulletin No. 99-T-62). |
| • | Insert this bulletin between pages 138 and 139. |
34. Install the 5th gear synchronizer hub.
Notice: Make sure center wing-headed bolt is backed out completely before installing input shaft support tool.
a. Install input shaft support tool J44362 on transaxle as shown. Turn center wing-headed bolt until contact is made with input shaft, then turn an additional one-quarter to one-half turn.
Notice: Tangs on blocking rings must fit in hub gaps. Care must be taken to ensure that blocking ring spring is engaged on blocking ring and does not get pinched between hub and blocking ring.
b. Carefully tap down 5th gear synchronizer hub onto input shaft splines using bearing driver shaft sleeve 87-91-311.
