Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 891528  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
  2. Remove the rear wheel and the tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the rear brake pads. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement .
  4. Remove the brake pipe to the rear axle control arm bracket.

  5. Object Number: 891856  Size: SH
  6. Remove the brake caliper-to-rear axle control arm bolts.
  7. Carefully remove the brake caliper bending at the flexible brake hose only.
  8. Using mechanics wire, attach the caliper to the rear spring.
  9. Remove the rotor retaining screw.
  10. Important: Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection .

  11. Remove the rotor from the vehicle.
  12. Rear Rotor Thickness

        • New: 10 mm (0.39 in)
        • Minimum after turning: 9 mm (0.35 in)
        • Discard: 8 mm (0.31 in)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 891503  Size: SH
  1. Position the rotor onto the hub.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the rotor retaining screw.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake rotor retaining fastener to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Clean the caliper support bracket fasteners thoroughly with brake and choke cleaner P/N 21007432 or equivalent.
  6. Important: If LOCTITE 272® Threadlocker or equivalent is not available, new caliper support bracket fasteners must be used.

  7. Apply LOCTITE 272® Threadlocker or equivalent to the caliper support bracket fasteners.

  8. Object Number: 891856  Size: SH
  9. Install the caliper onto the rear axle control arm and tighten the fasteners.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the rear caliper-to-rear axle control arm to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).

  11. Install the brake pipe bracket to the rear axle control arm.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe bracket-to-rear axle control arm to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  13. Install the brake pads. Refer to Rear Disc Brake Pads Replacement .
  14. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  15. Caution: Refer to Wheel Installation Caution in the Preface section.

  16. Position the wheel and the tire assembly onto the hub.
  17. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  18. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
