It is not necessary to check the fluid level unless the fluid has been changed or a leak is suspected.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise the vehicle.
  2. Caution: The transaxle fluid is hot. Caution must be taken to prevent personal injury when the transaxle fluid drains from the transaxle.

  3. Remove the transaxle fluid level plug (2).
  4. Check the fluid level. The fluid level should be even with the bottom of the plug hole.
  5. Important: It will be necessary to use a funnel with a flexible hose or a hand pump to add fluid to the transaxle.

  6. If the fluid level is low, add manual transaxle lubricant P/N 21018899 to level plug hole (2) until the fluid starts to drain out.
  7. Allow the fluid to finish draining from the plug hole. Apply thread sealant P/N 21485278 to level plug and install. Wipe any excess fluid from the transaxle with a rag or shop towel.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fluid level check and fill plug to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
