87 92 335 Shift Linkage Lock Pin

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 895322  Size: SH
  1. Pull up the control lever boot to disengage from the console.

  2. Object Number: 895436  Size: SH
  3. Move the shift lever to the 5th/Reverse gate and use a 3/8 in. punch to hold in place.

  4. Object Number: 893363  Size: SH

    Important: Note the original position of the AIR components.

  5. Remove the clamp from the AIR hose behind the cooling fan.
  6. Separate the AIR tube from the hose and push the tube back towards the transaxle.

  8. Remove the hose clip holding the 2 power steering lines together.

  10. Lock the transaxle shift control shaft in the 5th/Reverse gate. There is a hole on top of the transaxle that will have either a spring loaded locking pin or a hole plug.
  11. • If the hole has a spring loaded locking pin, depress the pin to lock transaxle shift control shaft in the 5th/Reverse gate.
    • If the hole has a plug in it, remove the plug and insert the 87 92 335 in the hole to lock the transaxle shift control shaft in the 5th/Reverse gate. If the plug is not damage, it can be reused.

  12. Loosen the pinch bolt securing the control assembly rod to control shaft lever assembly.

  13. Object Number: 895346  Size: SH

    Notice: The control shaft lever retaining pin has a spring loaded locking feature securing the pin in place. If this spring is not depressed before attempting to remove the pin, damage to the pin will result.

  14. Remove the pin retaining control shaft lever to shift control shaft of the transaxle.
  15. Remove the retaining clips holding the control shaft lever assembly to transaxle and frame assembly brackets.
  16. Remove the control shaft lever assembly by pulling straight up off of the pivot pins.

Installation Procedure

    Important: When installing the control shaft lever assembly, guide the shifter rod and transaxle shift fork block in place before installing the retaining clips.

  1. Install the control shaft lever assembly into the vehicle and install the retaining clips.
  2. Install the retaining pin that retains the control shaft lever to shift control shaft of transaxle.

  3. Object Number: 895332  Size: SH
  4. Tighten the pinch bolt securing the control assembly rod to control shaft lever assembly.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the control assembly rod-to-control lever assembly pinch bolt to 12 N·m (9 lb ft) + 180°.

  6. Release the transaxle shift control shaft.
  7. • If the transaxle has a spring loaded locking pin, remove the punch from the shift lever and rock the lever back and forth until the lever can be moved freely.

       Important: If the transaxle hole plug was damaged during removal, install a new plug during assembly.

    • If there was a plug in the transaxle hole, remove the punch from the shift lever, remove the 87 92 335 , and install the plug

  8. Install the hose clip to the 2 power steering lines.
  9. Pull the AIR tube back to the original position.

    Important: The clamp must be installed with the locking portion facing down.

  11. Insert the tube into the hose and install the clamp.

  12. Object Number: 893366  Size: SH

    Notice: There is a stand-off clip between the AIR tube and the wiring harness at the front of the transaxle. This must be in place to eliminate the possibility of chafing between the tube and the harness.

  13. Ensure the stand-off clip between the AIR tube and the wiring harness is installed correctly.
  14. Install the console. Refer to "Console Installation" procedure in this service manual.

  16. Snap the control lever boot into the console opening.
