Removal Procedure
- Inspect the synchronizer blocker ring friction
surfaces (1) for wear or damage.
- Inspect the synchronizer blocker ring teeth (2) for excessive wear.
- Inspect the synchronizer blocker ring lugs (3) for excessive wear.
- Inspect the synchronizer springs (4) for wear.
- Inspect the gear thrust (2) for wear or
scoring.
- Inspect the gear cone surface (2) for wear.
- Inspect the clutching teeth (3) for excessive wear, shipping, or
cracks.
- Inspect the gear teeth (4) for uneven wear scoring, galling, or
cracks.
- Install the synchronizer blocker ring to the
matching gear.
- Measure the clearance between the blocker ring and gear in 4 places.

• | The minimum blocker ring to gear clearance for the reverse gear synchronizer
is 0.5 mm (0.02 in). |
