J 43877 Lock Cylinder Holding Fixture and Staking Tool

Important: The ignition lock cylinder reads key cut positions 2 through 10.

Important: The tumbler springs may fall out of the lock cylinder when the tumbler retainer plates is removed.

1. Remove the tumbler retainer plate by carefully prying with a thin bladed screwdriver.
2. Remove the tumbler springs and the tumblers.



3. Select the correct tumblers for the desired code by the number stamped on the tumbler.

1. Install the tumblers and the tumbler springs.



2. Place a new tumbler retainer plate into position and stake it into the ignition lock cylinder using J 43877 .

2.1.	Clamp the staking tool holding fixture in a vice.

2.2.	Place the lock cylinder into the staking tool holding fixture.

2.3.	Tighten the retaining screw.

2.4.	Stake the retainer plate with the punch at the locations shown in illustration.

3. To check the coding of the cylinder, insert the key. If coding is correct, the sidebar will be flush with the cylinder with the key inserted.
4. For assembly, oil the lock set with a light oil or graphite lubricant.
