Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 878122 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    2. Object Number: 896875 Size: SH
  2. Open the glove compartment door.
  3. Remove the glove compartment lamp assembly by pulling on the lamp plunger.
  4. Disconnect the glove compartment lamp wiring harness from the glove compartment lamp.

    5. Object Number: 896491 Size: SH
  5. Remove the right side I/P lower dash insulator retainers.
  6. Pull the insulator rearward to detach the insulator from the forward insulator retainers.
  7. Remove the right side heater outlet assembly retainer and remove the outlet.

  8. Remove the glove compartment door.

    9. Object Number: 896914 Size: SH
  9. Remove the glove compartment bin fasteners.
  10. Slowly remove the glove compartment bin tilting the bin downward to expose the body control module (BCM) module residing on top of the glove compartment.
  11. Remove the BCM module from the glove compartment by sliding the module out of the attaching slots.
  12. Remove glove compartment bin.

  13. Disconnect the recirculation actuator electrical connector.
  14. For vehicles equipped with automatic climate control only - Disconnect the aspirator hose and position the hose aside.

    Caution: Blower resistor card has sharp edges and may be very hot if blower was used prior to servicing.

  15. Remove the blower motor resistor screws.
  16. Use the electrical harness to pull the resistor card out of the module.
  17. Disconnect the blower resistor card from the electrical connector.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 878160 Size: SH
  1. Connect the blower motor resistor electrical connector to the resistor card.
  2. Install the blower resistor card into the slot in the module with the circuit side facing towards the rear of the vehicle. It will only fit one way.
  3. Install the blower motor resistor screws.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the blower motor resistor screws to 1.0 N·m (9 lb in).

  4. Connect the recirculation actuator electrical connector.

    5. Object Number: 896832 Size: SH
  5. Install the glove compartment bin partially into the opening.
  6. Secure the BCM module to the glove compartment bin slots.
  7. Route the glove compartment lamp wiring harness through lamp opening.
  8. Install the glove compartment bin to I/P with the fasteners.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the glove compartment bin-to-I/P fasteners to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  9. Connect the glove compartment lamp wiring harness to the glove compartment lamp.
  10. Snap the lamp into the glove compartment bin.

    11. Object Number: 896489 Size: SH
  11. Install the heater outlet with the retainer.

    12. Object Number: 896491 Size: SH
  12. Install the lower dash insulator with the retainers.

    13. Object Number: 896834 Size: SH
  13. Install the glove compartment door with the fasteners.

    14. Tighten
    Tighten the glove compartment door fasteners to 2.0 N·m (18 lb in).

  14. Function the glove compartment lamp and the glove compartment door to ensure proper operation.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.

    16. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
