Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems Without Fog Lamps

Action

Normal Results

    • Start the engine and allow to idle in PARK with an automatic transaxle and in NEUTRAL with a manual transaxle.
    • Apply the park brake.

The high beam and low beam headlights are OFF. The daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

    • Release the park brake.
    • Move the transaxle out of PARK with an automatic transaxle.

The headlights are ON at reduced brilliance (DRL Mode). Daytime running lamps indicator is ON.

    • Move the headlight dimmer switch to LOW.
    • Turn the headlight switch to HEAD.

The high beam headlights are OFF. The low beam headlights are ON. The daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

Move the headlight dimmer switch to HIGH.

The high beam headlights and high beam indicator are ON. The low beam headlights are OFF. The daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

Turn the headlight switch to OFF.

The headlights are ON at reduced brilliance. The daytime running lamps indicator is ON.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

The headlights are OFF.

Move the headlight switch to PARK.

The park lamps are ON. The headlights are ON at reduced brilliance (DRL mode).

Action

Normal Result

    • Start the engine and allow the engine to idle.
    • Move the gear selector to any position except PARK.
    • Turn the fog lamp switch OFF.
    • Apply the park brake.

The fog lamps, high beam headlights, and low beam headlights are OFF. The daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

Release the park brake.

The headlights and fog lamps are OFF. The headlights are ON at reduced brilliance (DRL mode). The daytime running lamps indicator is ON.

    • Move the headlight switch to HEAD.
    • Move the fog lamp switch ON.
    • The headlight dimmer switch is in HIGH.

The high beam headlights and high beam indicator are ON. The low beam headlights and fog lamps are OFF.

    • Move the headlight dimmer switch to LOW.
    • Move the fog lamp switch to ON.

The low beam headlights and fog lamps are ON. The high beam headlights and high beam indicator are OFF.

    • Move the headlight switch to PARK.
    • The fog lamp switch is still ON.

The headlights are OFF. The fog lamps are ON.

Turn the ignition switch OFF.

The headlights and fog lamps are OFF.
