Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to update all 2000/2001 L-Series Chassis Service Manuals at your location. The "Bumper Heights" service information was inadvertently left out of the "Measurements and Specification" section of the 2000/2001 L-Series Chassis Service Manual.

Please obtain all the 2000/2001 L-Series Chassis Service Manuals and insert the attached page between pages 24 and 25.

Measurements and Specifications

Bumper Heights

Important: When measuring alignment angles, it, is critical that the vehicle bumper height be correct. Measure and adjust bumper height according to the following procedure before performing alignment.

  1. Place vehicle on a level surface.
  2. Adjust tire pressure to correct specifications.
  3. Curb bumper height should be measured with:

    • 207 kPa (30 psi) tire pressure - front tires
    • 207 kPa (30 psi) tire pressure - rear tires
  4. If vehicle fuel tank is not full, the following chart may be used to determine amount of weight necessary to be added to the trunk of vehicle to simulate a full fuel tank.
  5. Fuel level 1/8 -- Weight to Add 31.8 kg (80 lbs)

    Fuel level 1/4 -- Weight to Add 27.2 kg (70 lbs)

    Fuel level 3/8 -- Weight to Add 22.7 kg (60 lbs)

    Fuel level 1/2 -- Weight to Add 18.1 kg (45 lbs)

    Fuel level 5/8 -- Weight to Add 13.6 kg (35 lbs)

    Fuel level 3/4 -- Weight to Add 9 kg 20 lbs)

    Fuel level 7/8 -- Weight to Add 4.5 kg (10 lbs)

  6. Bounce front and rear vehicle a few time to settle suspension.
  7. Measure front and rear vehicle curb trim height.
  8. Locating point -- Y and + Y is distance from the center line of vehicle according to the following chart.

    Models - All, Front - 390 mm (15.35 in.), Rear 530 mm (20.86 in.)

    Measure curb bumper height from ground to bottom horizontal surface of bumper.

    Models - All, Front - 395.3 +/- 25.0 mm - (15.56 +/- 0.98 in.), Rear - 386.4 +/- 25.0 mm - (15.21 +/- 0.98 in.)
