Liftgate Release - Wagon

The Body Control Module (BCM) controls the liftgate release for the Saturn L-Series wagons. The BCM monitors circuit 744 to determine if the liftgate is open or closed. In order to open the liftgate the gate must be unlocked prior to pressing the key cylinder release. You can unlock the liftgate in one of the following ways:

    • by pressing the individual trunk button on the RKE transmitter;
    • by pressing the unlock button twice on the RKE transmitter;
    • by pressing the interior door unlock switch;
    • by enabling the automatic door unlocking feature;
    • by inserting the ignition key into the rear liftgate key cylinder button and then turning the key clockwise to open the liftgate.

The liftgate will automatically lock after any of the following actions:

    • 2 minutes after pressing the unlock button on the RKE transmitter;
    • 2 minutes after the liftgate is unlocked or opened using the key (just as the decklid does on Sedans);
    • immediately after the liftgate is opened and then closed;
    • when automatic door locking is enabled.
