Exhaust Manifold Rear Pipe Replacement Gasket - L81

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 892053  Size: SH
  1. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.
  2. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

  4. Object Number: 892044  Size: SH

    Notice: Avoid excessive movement of the pipe.

  5. Remove the exhaust manifold to rear exhaust manifold pipe fasteners.

  6. Object Number: 893346  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold pipe nuts.
  8. Pull down the rear exhaust manifold pipe just enough to remove the gasket.
  9. Remove the old gasket and discard.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 893346  Size: SH
  1. Install a new gasket onto the exhaust manifold studs.
  2. Install the rear exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold nuts and tighten.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts to 30 N·m (25 lb ft).

  4. Install the rear exhaust manifold pipe to front exhaust manifold pipe bolts and tighten.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.

  7. Object Number: 892053  Size: SH
  8. Install the exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe heat shield bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  10. Check the entire exhaust system for leaks.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 892053  Size: SH
  1. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.

  2. Object Number: 892062  Size: SH

    Important: Do not apply grease or silicon products to the heated oxygen sensor (H02S-2). Do not alter the wiring in any way. The wires carry air reference to the sensor.

  3. Remove the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the heated oxygen sensor.
  5. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

  7. Object Number: 893346  Size: SH
  8. Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold.

  9. Object Number: 892044  Size: SH
  10. Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe to front exhaust manifold pipe attachment bolts.

  11. Object Number: 892057  Size: SH
  12. Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe to resonator bolts.
  13. Remove the rear exhaust manifold pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 893346  Size: SH

    Important: Do not tighten the fasteners at this time.

  1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold gasket. Position the pipe into the vehicle.
  2. Install the rear exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold nuts.

  3. Object Number: 892044  Size: SH
  4. Position the gasket and install the front exhaust manifold pipe to rear exhaust manifold pipe bolts.

  5. Object Number: 892057  Size: SH
  6. Position the gasket and install the exhaust manifold pipe to resonator bolts and tighten.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  8. Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe to exhaust manifold nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts to 30 N·m (25 lb ft).

  10. Tighten the rear exhaust manifold pipe to front exhaust manifold pipe bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
  13. Notice: Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Damage Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Install the heated oxygen sensor.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the oxygen sensors (lower exhaust pipe) to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  16. Connect the heated oxygen sensor harness connector.

  17. Object Number: 892053  Size: SH
  18. Install the exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe heat shield bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  20. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
