Engine Coolant Fan Replacement Puller Fan - L61

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 886619  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  3. Important: It is not necessary to disconnect the fan control module wiring from the module.

  4. Remove the fan control module by sliding up and off the bracket. Lay the module and wiring out of the way.
  5. Remove the battery insulating cover.
  6. Remove the battery hold down/fan control module bracket.
  7. Caution: Refer to Batteries Produce Explosive Gases Caution in the Preface section.

  8. Remove the battery.

  10. Disconnect both cooling fan electrical connectors.
  11. Remove the electrical connectors from the connector retainer by sliding the connector as shown.

  12. Object Number: 894560  Size: SH
  13. Remove the pusher fan electrical harness from the fan shroud retainer tabs.
  14. Remove the wiring harness from the clamp on the fan shroud.

  15. Object Number: 894533  Size: SH
  16. Remove the fan shroud to radiator bolts.
  17. Remove the fan and shroud assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 894552  Size: SH

    Important: Verify that the pusher fan electrical harness is not between the fan shroud and the radiator.

  1. Install the fan and shroud assembly onto the radiator lower tabs.

  2. Object Number: 894533  Size: SH
  3. Install the fan shroud to the radiator bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the puller fan shroud-to-radiator bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Route the pusher fan electrical harness around the outside of the radiator end tank to the upper fan shroud.
  6. Install the fan electrical connectors into the connector retainers as shown.
  7. Connect both fan electrical connectors.
  8. Install the wiring harness into the clamp on the fan shroud.
  9. Install the pusher fan harness into the routing tabs on the fan shroud.

  10. Object Number: 886658  Size: SH
  11. Verify the battery tray is clean.
  12. Install the battery.
  13. Install the battery hold down/fan control module bracket.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the battery hold down bracket bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    Important: Battery life is reduced if a battery insulation cover is not used.

  15. Install the battery insulating cover.
  16. Install the fan control module by sliding down onto the bracket.
  17. Connect the positive battery cable.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  19. Connect the negative battery cable.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

Engine Coolant Fan Replacement Pusher Fan

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 894560  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the pusher fan electrical connector.
  3. Remove the pusher fan harness from the puller fan shroud tabs and push the harness clear of the radiator end tank.
  4. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Raise the vehicle.

  7. Remove the pusher fan to condenser retaining bolts.

  8. Object Number: 894550  Size: SH
  9. Pull the lower fan shroud forward and then down to remove.

  10. Object Number: 894623  Size: SH
  11. If the pusher fan is being replaced, remove the finger guard by depressing the tabs at the 4 locations.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 894623  Size: SH
  1. If the pusher fan is being replaced, snap the finger guard onto the new pusher fan.

  2. Object Number: 894308  Size: SH

    Notice: Position pusher fan electrical harness in shroud indentation to prevent harness damage.

  3. Slide the upper pusher fan shroud under the retaining tabs located at the upper edge of the condenser.

  4. Object Number: 894558  Size: SH
  5. Rotate the lower fan shroud onto the condenser and install the retaining bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the lower fan shroud-to-condenser bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Route the pusher fan electrical harness around the outside of the radiator end tank, below the upper radiator hose.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Install the pusher fan harness into the mounting tabs on the puller fan shroud.
  11. Connect the pusher fan electrical connector.

  12. Object Number: 878122  Size: SH
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 886619  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  3. Important: It is not necessary to disconnect the fan control module wiring from the module.

  4. Remove the fan control module by sliding up and off the bracket. Lay the module and wiring out of the way.
  5. Remove the battery insulating cover.

  7. Remove the battery hold down fan control module bracket.
  8. Caution: Refer to Batteries Produce Explosive Gases Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Remove the battery.
  10. Drain the coolant. Refer to Engine Coolant Check and Replacement .

  11. Object Number: 894561  Size: SH
  12. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir to the fan shroud bolts and position the reservoir rearward in the car.

  13. Object Number: 894626  Size: SH
  14. Disconnect both cooling fan electrical connectors.
  15. Remove the electrical connectors from the connector retainer by sliding the connector as shown.
  16. Remove the pusher fan electrical harness from the fan shroud retainer tabs.

  18. Remove the upper transaxle cooler line from the radiator end tank and unsnap from the end tank retainer.
  19. Cap or tape off the transaxle oil cooler line to prevent oil loss or contamination.

  21. Remove the upper radiator hose to radiator clamp and remove the hose from the radiator end tank.

  23. Remove the fan shroud to radiator bolts and remove.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 894552  Size: SH

    Important: Verify that the pusher fan electrical harness is not between the fan shroud and the radiator.

  1. Install the fan and shroud assembly onto the radiator lower tabs.

  2. Object Number: 894328  Size: SH
  3. Install the fan shroud to radiator bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fan shroud-to-radiator bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).


    Object Number: 893761  Size: SH
  5. Install the upper transaxle oil cooler line into the radiator end tank retainer.
  6. Remove the cap and install the upper transaxle oil cooler line to the radiator end tank.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the upper transaxle cooler line-to-radiator end tank to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Route the pusher fan electrical harness around the outside of the radiator end tank to upper fan shroud.
  9. Install the fan electrical connectors into the connector retainers as shown.
  10. Connect both fan electrical connectors.
  11. Install the pusher fan harness under the routing tabs on the fan shroud.

  12. Object Number: 894180  Size: SH
  13. Install the upper radiator hose to the radiator end tank and position the clamp at the 12 o'clock position.

  14. Object Number: 894561  Size: SH
  15. Install the power steering fluid reservoir to the fan shroud bolts.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering fluid reservoir to fan shroud bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).


    Object Number: 886658  Size: SH
  17. Verify the battery tray is clean.
  18. Install the battery.
  19. Install the battery hold down/fan control module bracket.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the battery hold down bracket to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).


    Object Number: 894561  Size: SH

    Important: Battery life is reduced if a battery insulation cover is not used.

  21. Install the battery insulating cover.
  22. Install the fan control module by sliding down onto the bracket.
  23. Connect the positive battery cable.
  24. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  25. Connect the negative battery cable.
  26. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  27. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Engine Coolant Check and Replacement .
  28. Use fresh water to rinse away any coolant that was spilled during the service.
