Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in the Preface section.

The EVAP vent solenoid is located on the upper-end of the fuel filler pipe inside the right-rear wheel opening.


    Object Number: 892351  Size: SH
  1. Position the vehicle on the hoist.
  2. Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working position.
  3. Remove the passenger side rear wheelhouse panel liner.
  4. Loosen the bolt at the fill neck inlet and remove the lower retainer nut, underbody.
  5. Slide the spring clamp nearest the solenoid down on the molded hose.

  7. Disconnect the solenoid harness connector.
  8. Disengage the locking tabs from the shield of the EVAP vent solenoid box.
  9. Remove the shield on the EVAP vent solenoid box and slide it down molded hose.
  10. Remove the EVAP vent solenoid from the box and the vent pipe from the vehicle.
  11. Disconnect the EVAP vent solenoid from the molded rubber hose.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Ensure that vent solenoid "clicks" into engagement with the locking tab on the box.

  1. Install the EVAP vent solenoid to the box on the filler pipe.
  2. Important: The lid or shield for the EVAP vent solenoid must always be installed. The lid and solenoid box shield the vent solenoid from water and contaminants. This allows the vent solenoid to function properly.

  3. Install the shield on EVAP vent solenoid box.
  4. Important: Ensure that vent pipe is properly positioned in retainer on fuel filler pipe lower attachment.

  5. Install the vent pipe hose to the vent solenoid and secure with the clamp.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the lower fuel fill neck retainer bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel fill neck retainer bolts to 13 N·m (9.5 lb ft).

  9. Tighten the fuel fill neck inlet nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel fill neck inlet nut to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
