Removal Procedure
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Remove the inlet hose assembly from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the throttle body electrical connection.
- Disconnect the hose clamps from the plenum-to-runner connector using theJ 43914
.
- Remove the intake plenum bolts.
- Remove the EGR passage bolt.
- Rotate the plenum up and remove the throttle body coolant hoses, EVAP
hose, and vacuum line from the throttle body.
- Remove
the throttle body nuts.
- Remove the throttle body.
Installation Procedure
Throttle Body Relearn Procedure

Important: Upon replacement of a new throttle body,
the Throttle Body Relearn procedure must be performed.
Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds. |
• | Turn the Ignition ON with the engine OFF. |
• | Make sure these engine operating parameters are met before proceeding: |
- | The ECT is between 6-100°C (43-212°F). |
- | The IAT is greater than 6°C (43°F). |
- | The ignition voltage is above 10 volts. |
- | The accelerator pedal angle is less than 14 percent. |
• | Leave the ignition ON for 1 minute with the engine OFF. |
- Install the throttle body and new gasket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the throttle body nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body nuts to 8 N·m
(71 lb in).
- Attach the vacuum lines, the EVAP hose, and the coolant lines to the throttle
body.
- Install the EGR pipe bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the EGR pipe bolt to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
- Install the intake plenum bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the intake plenum bolts to 8 N·m
(71 lb in).
- Connect the intake plenum-to-runner universal
clamp pliers using the J 43914
.
If the clamps are damaged, replace with service screw type clamps.
- Connect the throttle body electrical connector.
- Install
the air cleaner inlet hose.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolt to 17 N·m
(13 lb ft).
- Verify the coolant level and add coolant if necessary.
