Removal Procedure
- Turn
the steering wheel all the way to the right.
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the knock sensor 2 harness connector.
- Following the steps below:
4.1. | Remove the knock sensor 2 pigtail from the camshaft position sensor
clip. |
4.2. | Pull the sensor pigtail wire away from the 1 attachment clip located
about 6 inches down the wire from the camshaft position sensor clip. |
4.3. | Tie a 4-foot long strip to one end of the knock sensor 2 connector
and the other end to a fixed component near the camshaft position sensor. |
- Slightly loosen the power steering pump pulley bolts. Do not back the
bolts out.
- Remove
the accessory drive belt.
- Remove
the power steering pump pulley bolts and the power steering pump pulley.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the knock sensor 2 attachment bolts and guide the knock sensor
with a string out from the bottom. Remove the string from the end of the knock sensor,
but leave the string hanging.
Installation Procedure
- Tie the end of the string to the connector end of the knock sensor 2.
- Pull up on the string above the A/C compressor to guide the sensor connector
around the A/C compressor bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Once the knock sensor connector is above the A/C compressor, install the knock
sensor 2 attachment bolt with a knock sensor 2 wire facing between
the 9 and 10 o'clock position.
Tighten
Tighten the knock sensor bolt to 20 N·m
(15 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Attach the knock sensor wire to the attachment clip located about 6 inches
below the attachment clip on the camshaft position sensor.
- Attach the knock sensor wire to the attachment clip located on the camshaft
position sensor.
- Connect the knock sensor 2 harness connector. Push the connector
in until the lock position is felt, then pull back to confirm engagement.
- Install the power steering pump pulley and snug down the attachment bolts.
- Install
the accessory drive belt.
- Tighten the power steering pump pulley bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering pulley bolt to 20 N·m
(15 lb ft).
