Under low brake fluid conditions, the low brake fluid switch closes. When closed,
the low brake fluid switch grounds (circuit 333, BCM cavity J2-A5). The body
control module (BCM) responds by sending a serial data message to the instrument panel
cluster (IPC) to turn ON the brake warning light.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
• | The ignition switch in RUN position. |
• | Circuit 333, BCM short to ground or low brake fluid. |
• | A 2 second delay to account for slosh. |
• | Service (wrench) light will illuminate. |
• | The brake light will illuminate with the ignition in RUN. |
Diagnostic Aids
• | Inspect the wiring harness for damage. Check for broken or chafed insulation. |
• | If the fault is suspected to be intermittent, wiggling the harness wiring
may help in locating fault. |
• | Check for poor connection at the BCM. Inspect the harness connectors for
backed-out terminals, improper terminal mating, broken connector locks, improperly
formed or damaged terminals and poor terminal-to-wire connection (terminal crimped
over wire insulation and not conductors). |
