Makes 🢒 Saturn 🢒 2002 🢒 L100/L200/LW200 🢒 Brakes 🢒 Hydraulic Brakes 🢒 Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the left lower instrument panel (I/P) closeout panel, hush panel.
  2. Remove the lower HVAC duct push pin and remove the duct.

    3. Object Number: 891756 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the brake booster push rod from the pedal.

    4. Object Number: 891751 Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the stop lamp switch and cruise brake switch electrical connections, if equipped.
  5. Remove the stop lamp switch and cruise brake switch, if equipped. Rotate 90 degrees then pull out.

  6. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly fasteners and move the pedal out of the way, L81 shown.

    7. Object Number: 891747 Size: SH
  7. Remove the intermediate shaft to steering column bolt and move the intermediate shaft aside.

  8. Remove the pedal bracket to I/P beam fasteners.

    9. Object Number: 891741 Size: SH
  9. Remove the pedal bracket fasteners located under the hood around brake booster.

    10. Important: The brake pedal cannot be separated from the bracket assembly. The assembly must be serviced as a unit.

  10. Remove the pedal bracket assembly with the pedal.

Installation Procedure
  1. Position the pedal assembly into the vehicle.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Position the brake booster bracket onto the studs and tighten the nuts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the brake booster bracket attachment nuts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the pedal bracket-to-I/P support beam nuts and tighten.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal bracket-to-I/P support beam nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).


    Object Number: 891747 Size: SH

    Important: Use Loctite 242® Threadlocker, or equivalent on threads of pinch bolt.

  4. Install the intermediate shaft and pinch bolt.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the accelerator pedal.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the accelerator pedal bracket nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the brake booster push rod to the pedal.
  7. Install the lower HVAC duct and push pin.
  8. Install the stop lamp switch, and cruise brake switch, if equipped.

    9. Object Number: 891751 Size: SH
  9. Connect the stop lamp and cruise brake switch electrical connector if equipped.
  10. Install the left lower I/P closeout panel, hush panel, and push pins.
