Tools Required

J 41545 Park Neutral Position Switch Tool


    Object Number: 893236 Size: SH
  1. Shift the transaxle into the NEUTRAL position.
  2. Remove the shift control cable from the transaxle range switch lever.

    3. Object Number: 893829 Size: SH
  3. Remove the transaxle range switch lever nut and lever.
  4. Loosen the transaxle range switch bolts.

    5. Object Number: 893833 Size: SH
  5. Insert the J 41545 as shown and rotate the switch until the tool drops into position.

    6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Tighten the transaxle range switch bolts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle range switch bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Remove the alignment tool.

  8. Install the transaxle range switch lever and nut.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle range switch lever retaining nut to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

    Important: After adjusting the switch, verify that engine only starts in Park or Neutral. If the engine starts in any other position, adjust the switch.

  9. Install the shift control cable to transaxle range switch lever and verify proper operation.
