Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Important: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with
a purity identifier before recovery is recommended.
- Recover the refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure
the amount of oil removed during recovery and record the amount.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to HVAC Compressor Lines/Hoses Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the discharge line-to-compressor bolt.
- Remove the discharge line and the seal washer from the compressor.
- Install caps on the discharge line and the compressor to prevent moisture
entry and oil spillage.
- Remove the electrical harness clip from the discharge hose.
- Remove the discharge line-to-condenser block bolt and remove the discharge line
from the block.
- Install caps on the discharge line and the condenser block to prevent
moisture entry and oil spillage.
- Remove the discharge hose clamp screw from the cradle.
- Install caps on the discharge line and the condenser block to prevent
moisture entry and oil spillage.
Installation Procedure
- Install the discharge hose, the condenser end of line first, flexing the hose
to clear the cradle brace.
Important:
• | Do not lubricate the seal washers. |
• | Always install new seal washers to prevent refrigerant leaks. |
- Remove the discharge line cap and install the new seal washer.
- Remove the condenser block cap and install the discharge line.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Hand start the discharge line to the condenser block bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the discharge line-to-condenser block bolt
to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Remove the cap from the compressor discharge port.
Important:
• | Do not lubricate the seal washers. |
• | Always install new seal washers to prevent refrigerant leaks. |
- Remove the cap from the discharge line and install the new seal washer.
- Install the discharge line-to-compressor and hand start.
Tighten
Tighten the discharge line-to-compressor block bolt
to 16 N·m (142 lb in).
- Snap the electrical harness clip onto the discharge pipe.
- Install the discharge line clamp to cradle screw.
Tighten
Tighten the discharge line clamp fastener-to-cradle
to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Lower vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m
(13 lb ft).
- Evacuate, charge, and leak check the A/C system.
