For 1990-2009 cars only
- For vehicles equipped with a standard HVAC only - Remove the temperature cable housing from the retainer clip and remove the cable eyelet from the temperature door lever.
- Remove the electrical connectors from the control head and remove the control head.
- Remove the blower motor housing screws, release both tabs, and remove the housing.
- Lift the blower motor upward and disconnect the blower motor electrical connector by squeezing the bottom of the connector while pulling downward.
- Remove the HVAC module electrical harness connectors from the mode actuator, blower resistor card, and recirculation actuator. Pull the blower motor harness grommet out of the case.
- Remove the harness screw at the mode actuator on the case.
- Remove the harness main connector by sliding the harness towards the left.
- Remove the connector duct screw and pull the connector duct downward to remove.
- Remove the mode actuator screws and remove the actuator.
- Remove the mode cam.
- Remove the primary lever screws and remove the primary levers.
- Pry the sub-levers off with a flat-blade screwdriver.
- Remove the recirculation actuator screws and remove the actuator.
- For vehicles equipped with standard HVAC only - Remove the blower motor resistor card screws and remove.
- For vehicles equipped with automatic climate control only - Remove the blower motor control module.
- Remove the temperature door actuator.
- Remove the lower insulator by stretching past the 2 hooks on the bottom case and pulling forward.
- Open the heater core pipe connector collars and remove. Clamps may need to be rotated to gain access to the retaining tab. Pull the heater core pipes out of the heater core and through the HVAC module case to remove.
- Remove the heater core retainer and slide the heater core out of the module.
- Turn the module upside down and remove the lower case screws and remove the lower case.
- Remove the evaporator, the TXV, and the seal by lifting straight up. Remove the TXV and the seal from the evaporator.
- Turn the module right side up and use a razor blade to cut the defroster/vent seal and blower motor opening seal at the center line.
- Release the recirculation door connecting rod from the retainer.
- Remove the rod from the small door lever and remove.
- Remove the large and small recirculation doors.
- Remove the case half retainer clips and screws.
- With case laying on the left side, lift the right side straight up to split the module.
- Remove the mode and temperature doors.
Important:
• There are 2 clips and 9 screws. Two screws are located in deep cavities. • One screw is located at the center of the case.
