Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SRS Sodium Hydroxide Powder Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in the Preface section.

- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
.
- Remove the I/P compartment.
Important: Do NOT remove the harness on the passenger SIR.
- Disconnect the SIR from the vehicle wire harness at the yellow two-way connector.
- Remove
fasteners securing SIR to the I/P support beam.
- Push the SIR rearward and rotate the round end downward.
- Remove the SIR from the vehicle through the I/P compartment opening.
Installation Procedure
Important: The harness exits the SIR on the right side of the vehicle.
- Insert the SIR through the I/P opening with the vinyl edge up and the harness
on the right side of the vehicle.
Important: The harness connected to the SIR must be routed between the round guide pin
and the SIR mounting ear.
- Insert the SIR guide pins in the I/P brace slots and rotate the round edge upward
to align the bolt holes.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the fasteners securing the SIR to the I/P support beam.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in)
- Connect the yellow two-way connector to the vehicle wiring harness.
- Install the I/P compartment.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
.
- Turn the ignition on and verify that the SIR telltale operates properly.
