Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems without Fog Lamps

Action

Normal Results

    • Start engine and allow to idle in PARK.
        Start engine and allow to idle in NEUTRAL (w/manual transaxle).
    • Apply park brake.

High beam and Low beam headlamps are OFF. Daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

    • Release park brake.
    • Move transaxle out of PARK (Automatic).

Headlamps are ON at reduced brilliance (DRL Mode). Daytime running lamps indicator is ON.

    • Move headlamp dimmer switch to LOW.
    • Turn headlamp switch to HEAD.

High beam headlamps are OFF. Low beam headlamps are ON. Daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

Move headlamp dimmer switch to HIGH.

High beam headlamps and high beam indicator are ON. Low beam headlamps are OFF. Daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

Turn headlamp switch to OFF.

Headlamps are ON at reduced brilliance. Daytime running lamps indicator is ON during the day with the A/C OFF.

Turn ignition switch to OFF.

Headlamps are OFF.

Move headlamp switch to PARK.

Park lamps are ON. Headlamps are ON at reduced brilliance (DRL mode).

The daytime running will operate normally during the day.

Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems with Fog Lamps

Action

Normal Results

    • Start engine and allow to idle.
    • Move gear selector to any position except PARK.
    • Fog lamp switch is OFF.
    • Apply park brake.

Fog lamps, high beam headlamps and low beam headlamps are OFF. Daytime running lamps indicator is OFF.

Release park brake.

Headlamps and fog lamps are OFF. Headlamps are ON at reduced brilliance (DRL mode). Daytime running lamps indicator is ON.

    • Move headlamp switch to HEAD.
    • Move fog lamp switch ON.
    • Headlamp dimmer switch in HIGH.

High beam headlamps and high beam indicator are ON. Low beam headlamps and fog lamps are OFF.

    • Move headlamp dimmer switch to LOW.
    • Move fog lamp switch ON.

Low beam headlamps and fog lamps are ON. High beam headlamps and high beam indicator are OFF.

    • Move headlamp switch to PARK.
    • Fog lamp switch still ON.

Headlamps are OFF. Fog lamps are ON.

Turn ignition switch OFF.

Headlamps and fog lamps are OFF.
