Whistle Noise from Power Steering While Turning Left

Some customers may comment on a whistle noise while making slight left turns.

Condition may be due to the power steering gear.

Refer to the "Power Steering Gear Removal and Installation Procedure" found in the Steering Section of the appropriate Saturn L-Series Chassis Service Manual. Replace the Steering Gear with P/N 22708505 which has internal modifications to correct the whistle noise concern.

1. Verify the customer concern of whistle noise.

Important: The changes in Steering Gear P/N 22708505 are only for the whistle noise.

2. If the whistle noise can be heard with slight left steering input, refer to the "Power Steering Gear Removal and Installation Procedure" found in the Steering Section of the appropriate Saturn L-Series Chassis Service Manual. Replace the Steering Gear with P/N 22708505.

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn dealer System for E9740 (Gear Assembly, Power Steering - Replace), or if another procedure is performed, refer to the appropriate Electronic Labor Time Guide for the correct Labor Operation Code and Time.
